Add SiteStyles Source is one of the more interesting new features in NOF 7.5's Style View. You can add

Adding Online SiteStyles

The default set of Online SiteStyles are a large collection of SiteStyles hosted in a special section of the NetObjects.com web site. WebSite Pros have provided documentation about how to create new online SiteStyle collections.

As I'm writing this, I do not know of any other available Online SiteStyles sites. However, here is the process to follow when more Online SiteStyle collections become available:

  1. On the Style View menu, select Style, Add SiteStyles Source…
  2. In the Source Type list, select Online SiteStyles,
  3. Click Next.
  4. Enter the Online SiteStyles Source Name.
  5. Enter the Online SiteStyles Source URL (this will look like a normal web URL).
  6. Click Test to ensure that NOF recognizes the URL as a valid SiteStyles source. If it does,
  7. Click Finish.

The new Online SiteStyles folder will be available for you to explore.

Adding Local SiteStyles

Adding Local SiteStyles is useful for folks who have older versions of NetObjects Fusion installed. Instead of copying the contents of the old version's Styles folder to NOF 7.5's Style folder, just set up a new Local SiteStyles Source.

  1. On the Style View menu, select Style, Add SiteStyles Source…
  2. In the Source Type list, select Local SiteStyles,
  3. Click Next.
  4. Enter the Online SiteStyles Source Name (for example, NOF MX Styles).
  5. Click the … button to browse to the source (for example, x:\NetObjects Fusion MX\Styles).
  6. Click Test to ensure that NOF recognizes the local folder as a valid SiteStyles source. If it does,
  7. Click Finish.

The new Local SiteStyles folder will be available for you to explore.

Adding CD SiteStyles

Adding CD Site Styles is useful for users who have purchased the Site Styles Volume I & 2 CD or the Templates CD (available from the NetObjects Online Store)

DISCLAIMER: I do not own the SiteStyles Volume I CD, so I was not able to test the steps below.

Instead of copying the contents of the desired CD SiteStyles folder to NOF 7.5's Style folder, just set up a CD SiteStyles Source.

  1. On the Style View menu, select Style, Add SiteStyles Source…
  2. In the Source Type list, select CD SiteStyles,
  3. Click Next.
  4. Enter the Online SiteStyles Source Name (for example, Volume I).
  5. Click the … button to browse to the source (for example, x:\Styles).
  6. Click Test to ensure that NOF recognizes the CD as a valid SiteStyles source. If it does,
  7. Click Finish.

The new CD SiteStyles folder will be available for you to explore.

Adding Network SiteStyles

Adding Network SiteStyles is useful for folks who have stored SiteStyles on a Windows Network shared folder. The folder can reside on a Windows Server or a peer (workgroup) network share.

Instead of copying the contents of a desired network SiteStyles folder to NOF 7.5's Style folder, just set up a Network SiteStyles Source.

  1. On the Style View menu, select Style, Add SiteStyles Source…
  2. In the Source Type list, select Network SiteStyles,
  3. Click Next.
  4. Enter a name for the Network SiteStyles Source (for example, My Company's Network SiteStyles).
  5. Click the … button to browse to the source.
On Windows XP, this opens the MyNetwork Places dialog.
  6. Locate the folder inside the shared folder where the Styles reside.
  7. Click Test to ensure that NOF recognizes the Network Share's subfolder as a valid SiteStyles source. If it does,
  8. Click Finish.

The new Network SiteStyles folder will be available for you to explore.

Note: At the time I wrote this, accessing a folder on a mapped network drive did not work as I expected it to work. I reported problem as a bug.
